The City of Port Angeles Parks & Recreation Department is excited to announce the launch of the Park Host Program at Erickson Playfield. This program offers individuals a unique opportunity to enhance the park experience for visitors, while enjoying all that Erickson Playfield and the surrounding area have to offer.
As Park Host, volunteers will represent the Port Angeles community, while providing a positive, helpful and informative presence at the park. In addition to the many amenities at Erickson Playfield, Park Hosts will have access to a 40’ x 14’ gravel pad with full hookups (power, water, and sewer) and free Wi-Fi. Opportunities are currently available from June through October 2024; a minimum commitment of one month is required.
As Park Host at Erickson Playfield, volunteers will:
- Greet and assist visitors; answer questions and receive comments about the park and surrounding area; and inform parkgoers of, but not enforce, park and facility rules
- Distribute maps, brochures, and facility information as provided by the City
- Replenish restroom supplies as needed, ensuring floors are free of litter, light bulbs are functioning, and the general cleanliness of facilities
- Promote care of the park by keeping a clean Park Host site and maintaining a neat and orderly appearance around the park by performing minor tasks, such as picking up litter and emptying trash bins
- Have a visible presence with a sufficient and comfortable knowledge of park and facility rules of use, as well as familiarity with other local amenities and attractions
- Watch for and report activities within the park that require attention from City personnel
- Perform all duties in a safe manner, using appropriate personal protective equipment as provided by the City
- Log duty hours and activities performed using log sheets provided by the City
- Perform nightly lock up of onsite restrooms
To apply for the Park Host Program, individuals must be at least 18 years of age and able to:
- Pass a background check and interview
- Perform duties in a friendly and professional manner
- Communicate effectively
- Provide a clean and attractive motor home, camper, or travel trailer
