Be on the lookout for our data collectors! The City has hired a consultant which is using Data Collectors to help with our Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan.
- Who are they?
- You can distinguish them by their high visibility vest, tablet, backpack, and measuring tools.
- When will this be happening?
- Starting November 2nd through the rest of the year.
- What are they measuring?
- They will be taking measurements of sidewalks, curb ramps, and other features in the public right-of-way so that accessibility can be determined. This includes the width and slope of sidewalks.
- Why are they doing this?
- The City of Port Angeles is starting our ADA Transition Plan Project. We are collecting information about barriers to accessibility in the public right-of-way (ex: sidewalks, ramps, crossing signals) so that we can prioritize and create a plan to address them, allowing Port Angeles to be more accessible to everyone.
- How can you help/participate?
- A project virtual open house will be live the first week of November. This will provide more information on the project, include a short survey, and an online mapping tool so anyone can report barriers to accessibility in the City.
