[ARCHIVED] Data Collectors will be measuring in the public right-of-way

Newsflash Image - ADA Transition Plan Data Collectors

Be on the lookout for our data collectors! The City has hired a consultant which is using Data Collectors to help with our Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan.

  • Who are they?
    • You can distinguish them by their high visibility vest, tablet, backpack, and measuring tools.
  • When will this be happening?
    • Starting November 2nd through the rest of the year.
  • What are they measuring?
    • They will be taking measurements of sidewalks, curb ramps, and other features in the public right-of-way so that accessibility can be determined. This includes the width and slope of sidewalks.
  • Why are they doing this?
    • The City of Port Angeles is starting our ADA Transition Plan Project. We are collecting information about barriers to accessibility in the public right-of-way (ex: sidewalks, ramps, crossing signals) so that we can prioritize and create a plan to address them, allowing Port Angeles to be more accessible to everyone.
  • How can you help/participate?
    • A project virtual open house will be live the first week of November. This will provide more information on the project, include a short survey, and an online mapping tool so anyone can report barriers to accessibility in the City.
