The City of Port Angeles (City) is scheduling a full shutdown of Laurel Street Substation (LSS) located at 110 East 14th Street, Port Angeles, Washington. The LSS is a 15 kV, three phase, 4 wire, 60Hz Metalclad Switchgear Power Center. Power supply to customers from this substation will not be affected during the scheduled shutdown.
The City has seven electrical substations servicing 10,800 meters. The switchgear at LSS has reached its useful service life and is in need of switchgear upgrade. The goal of LSS power down is to allow City Staff to service other areas of the substation and assess upgrade requirements for the switchgear. Assessment will determine the switchgear upgrade scope of work needed for formal bid solicitation.
During the LSS outage, manufacturers, manufacturers’ representatives and license contractors who are interested in providing a bid on switchgear upgrade solicitation when it becomes available are encouraged to visit the site. This is the only opportunity to safely enter the substation. Requests to visit the substation outside of the scheduled outage will not be permitted. Interested parties are encouraged to meet at the following location on the date and time specified:
