Earlier this year, the Port Angeles City Council voted in favor of a ban on thin plastic checkout bags. The new "Bring Your Own Bag" (BYOB) law is intended to encourage shoppers to bring their own reusable shopping bags. Reusable bags prevent waste and litter, and help our environment.
Beginning July 2, 2018, grocery, retail, and convenience stores are no longer allowed to provide thin plastic checkout bags (less than 2.25 mils) to customers.
We've created several resources for local retailers, including an FAQ and a flyer that can be posted to inform customers of the new law.
