As part of our commitment to safe and well-maintained parks and facilities, we want to share an update on winter conditions that may affect the Olympic Discovery Trail.
A section of the Olympic Discovery Trail, located between Hollywood Beach and Morse Creek, runs along an exposed shoreline. During the winter months, high tides and increased stormwater runoff make this section of trail more susceptible to landslides, fallen trees and standing water.
We strive to address these issues quickly. At times, however, winter conditions can make it unsafe for our staff and equipment to access the trail. In those instances, work may be delayed until conditions improve and our crew can safely return to the area.
Please recreate responsibly this winter. If you spot a hazard along the trail, report it so we can monitor the area, keep the community informed, and respond as weather and trail conditions allow. Parks & Recreation staff can be reached at (360) 417-4550 or parksandrecreation@cityofpa.us.
Trail bypass routes are available. To bypass the trail in this area, please use Clallam Transit Route 30 (Hwy 101):
