As part of our commitment to safe and well-maintained parks and facilities, we want to share an update on winter conditions that may affect the Olympic Discovery Trail.
A section of the Olympic Discovery Trail, located between Hollywood Beach and Morse Creek, runs along an exposed shoreline. During the winter months, high tides and increased stormwater runoff make this section of trail more susceptible to landslides, fallen trees and standing water.
These conditions may prevent crews from safely accessing the trail to perform maintenance and repairs. As a result, some work will be postponed until the spring, when crews and equipment can safely return to the area.
During the winter season, trail users may experience adverse conditions. If you see a hazard along the trail, please report it so we can monitor the area, keep the community informed, and respond as weather and trail conditions allow.
