[ARCHIVED] Volunteer Opportunity: Help Us Plant Street Trees on October 25!

Press Release 3

We're looking for volunteers!

The City of Port Angeles invites residents to join our annual Arbor Day Celebration on Saturday, October 25, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Volunteers will assist fellow community members by planting street trees in neighborhoods throughout the city.

This event is part of the City Shade Street Tree Program, which aims to enhance our community by increasing the number of trees in residential areas. This year, the City will provide approximately 75 free street trees to residents for planting.  Volunteers are needed to help plant about 30 trees for community members who have requested assistance.

If you would like to help us plant street trees on October 25, please submit a Volunteer Intake Form to Courtney Bornsworth, Natural Resources Administrator. Completed forms can be emailed to ced@cityofpa.us or returned to City Hall at 321 East 5th Street, Port Angeles, WA 98362.

Registered volunteers will receive more detailed information prior to the event.  In the meantime, here are some helpful tips:

  • No planting experience is necessary. All volunteers will attend a brief planting demonstration on October 25, where they will learn proper planting techniques.
  • Tools will be provided, but feel free to bring your own gardening gloves.
  • Wear closed-toed shoes and comfortable clothing.
  • Don’t forget to bring a water bottle.

Interested in volunteering, but can’t attend the event on October 25? There are more volunteer opportunities available with the City Shade Program. Please let us know if you’re interested in learning more.

For more details, please contact Courtney at (360) 417-4750 or ced@cityofpa.us.
