As part of the 8th Street Paving Project (TR0119 in the Capital Facilities Plan), the 8th Street bridges were closed to vehicle traffic starting on Monday, June 30, in order to facilitate resealing work. This work included the replacement of expansion joints at both ends of the bridges, surface cleaning, and the application of a sealant to the bridge decks to prevent water intrusion and extend their service life.
While the bridges were initially scheduled to be closed until 8 a.m. on Friday, July 4th, the City’s contractor and staff worked extended hours on both Monday and Tuesday to complete this work ahead of schedule.
Both bridges have reopened as of 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
