Today, February 20, 2025, City of Port Angeles officials were thrilled to join the Downtown Port Angeles Waterfront District and community members in celebrating the first passengers to arrive to Port Angeles by Black Ball Coho Ferry, following its annual drydock maintenance.

Port Angeles Mayor Kate Dexter issued the following statement:

“It is with great excitement that we celebrate the return of the Black Ball Coho Ferry from Victoria and extend a warm welcome to our Canadian friends and neighbors.

For nearly 65 years, the Coho has connected our two cities, creating a strong cultural and economic bond that has benefited both communities.

Our City deeply values the relationship we share with our neighbors to the north, and we encourage our residents to join us in embracing this continued partnership.

I am grateful for the friendship I have with Victoria Mayor Marianne Alto and look forward to meeting with her next month.

I will also be reaching out to the mayors of other border communities in the United States to connect and work together as we deal with the potential consequences of the actions of our current President on our communities and relationships. I will encourage them to follow our example, building on relationships that enhance economic opportunities for US small businesses while fostering mutual respect and support.”
