The City of Port Angeles is offering utility payment assistance to individuals impacted by the closure of McKinley Paper Mill. We understand the uncertainty that comes with sudden job loss, and we are here to support you during this difficult time.
To assist utility customers who have been laid off as a result of the closure, the City is offering the following utility payment assistance options:
- Interest Waiver: Receive a waiver on utility interest for up to a one-year period.
- Payment Plan: Participate in a payment plan for past due balances.
- Rate Discount: Apply for a discount on utility rates by submitting a Utility Discount Application online at https://cityofpa-formsdev.app.transform.civicplus.com/forms/23552
- Financial Assistance: Apply for grant funding available for past due balances.
Additionally, there are several local resources available to provide financial assistance. Click here to view a list of known organizations.
“Going forward, we hope the operator of the mill will provide greater transparency regarding its long-term plans,” says Port Angeles Mayor Kate Dexter. “Our hearts go out to the hundreds of employees and families affected by this closure, and we offer them our full support.”
