What should Port Angeles look like in 2045?
The City of Port Angeles is embarking on an important periodic update of the Comprehensive Plan. This plan is a long-term strategy that outlines our community’s vision, identity, and development strategies for the next 20 years. It also explores how Port Angeles approaches solutions to complex and interconnected issues, such as:
- Housing accessibility and equity;
- Local economic development, business establishment and retention, and employment opportunities;
- Future land use mapping and zoning practices;
- Utility development and ongoing maintenance;
- Park and recreation access;
- Neighborhood services;
- Environmental protection and climate resiliency; and
- Transportation access and continuity.
This project, called Vision 2045, will be the City’s largest long-range planning effort in decades, and it cannot be successful without you:
- You, who live in Port Angeles.
- You, who work in Port Angeles.
- You, who own a business in Port Angeles.
- You, who travel through Port Angeles regularly to get to where you need to go.
Your insight is key to shaping Port Angeles’ future over the next 20 years. It will help us to address population growth, enhance economic and environmental resilience, and ensure that our community remains a great place to live, work, play, visit, and raise a family.
Upcoming Engagement Opportunities
Over the next two months, the City will launch its public engagement process, connecting with residents at various locations and events in Port Angeles, and presenting to local advisory groups.
To kick-off the process, the City will include a brief questionnaire in all utility billing statements for the month of August, along with a link to a more detailed online survey. Developed with input from a stakeholder advisory committee made up of local public agencies and professional organizations, this survey will help to define our shared vision, values, and investment priorities for the future. As a token of our appreciation, all survey participants will be entered into a prize drawing.

This initial engagement will culminate in a Storefront Studio and two evening workshops at 230 East 1st Street on September 23-25. The multi-day Storefront Studio event will consist of an informative gallery and multiple interactive opportunities, while the workshops provide interactive group activities that address the feedback and input collected to date.
The Comprehensive Plan update process will continue through 2025, offering many opportunities for you to become engaged and stay informed as the process advances toward City Council approval.
