[ARCHIVED] Water Main Break at Intersection of 6th & H Streets – Please Avoid Area

Water Main Break

On Wednesday morning, July 17, a water main break was discovered at the intersection of West 6th Street and South H Street in Port Angeles. This break impacts seven water utility customers in the area.

At this time, City crews are onsite to make repairs to the broken main. For your safety and the safety of our crews, we ask that you please avoid the area of W 6th Street & South H Street.

Following repairs, water will be restored, the water main will be disinfected and flushed, and the City will take water samples to ensure safety.

Once water is restored, a precautionary boil water notice is advised for all homes impacted by the break. These homes should use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking, cooking, making ice, and brushing teeth.

  • Bring water to a rolling boil for 1 minute to kill bacteria and other organisms that may have been introduced into the water.
  • Let the water cool before using.
  • Tap water is safe for showering, bathing, and other household uses including washing dishes in the dishwasher, as long as the heat/sanitizing cycle and commercial dishwashing detergent are used.

When satisfactory test results have been received, the precautionary boil water notice will be lifted. Impacted customers will be notified by City staff via door hanger.

If you experience discolored water, please flush your water lines by running water in a bathtub or faucet until the water runs clear. Please note: If your water was not shut off or you have not experienced low water pressure on July 17, you are not impacted by this notice and you do not need to boil your water.

We thank you for your patience and cooperation. If you have any questions about your water service, please contact the Public Works & Utilities Department at (360) 417-4800 or publicworks@cityofpa.us. For weekend and after 5 p.m., please contact our after-hours answering service at (360) 417-4726.
