[ARCHIVED] Localized Precautionary Boil Water Advisory Issued July 3, 2024

Boil Water Advisory

On Wednesday morning, July 3, a water main break was discovered at the intersection of 7th Street and S Liberty Street in Port Angeles. This break impacted approximately 18 water utility customers in the area. These customers were contacted by City staff via door hanger.

At this time, City crews have completed repairs for the 6-inch water main. Following repairs, water will be restored, the water main will be disinfected and flushed, and the City will take water samples to ensure safety.

Once water is restored, a precautionary boil water notice is advised for all homes impacted by the break. These homes should use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking, cooking, making ice, and brushing teeth.

  • Bring water to a rolling boil for 1 minute to kill bacteria and other organisms that may have been introduced into the water.
  • Let the water cool before using.
  • Tap water is safe for showering, bathing, and other household uses including washing dishes in the dishwasher, as long as the heat/sanitizing cycle and commercial dishwashing detergent are used.

When satisfactory test results have been received, the precautionary boil water notice will be lifted. Impacted customers will be notified by City staff, who will go door-to-door with door hangers.

If you experience discolored water, please flush your water lines by running water in a bathtub or faucet until the water runs clear.

Please note: If your water was not shut off or you have not experienced low water pressure on July 3, you are not impacted by this notice and you do not need to boil your water.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience. If you have any questions about your water service, please contact the Public Works & Utilities Department at (360) 417-4800 or publicworks@cityofpa.us
