[ARCHIVED] Water Main Break – 9th and Oak Street Intersection

Water Main Break

On Monday afternoon, June 3, a water main break was discovered at the intersection of 9th Street and Oak Street in Port Angeles. City crews are actively working to repair the 10-inch water main.

During this work, the following locations are temporarily closed to thru traffic (see map below):

  • 9th Street, between Oak Street and Cherry Street
  • Oak Street, between 8th Street and 9th Street

Once water is restored, a precautionary boil water notice is advised for all homes impacted by the break. These homes should use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking, cooking, making ice, and brushing teeth. Impacted customers will be notified by City staff, who will go door-to-door with door hangers.

Following repairs, the water main will be disinfected and flushed, and the City will take water samples to ensure safety. When satisfactory test results have been received, the precautionary boil water notice will be lifted. Impacted customers will be notified by City staff, who will go door-to-door with door hangers.

If you experience discolored water, please flush your water lines by running water in a bathtub or faucet until the water runs clear.

If your water was not shut off or you have not experienced low water pressure on June 3, you are not impacted by this notice and do not need to boil your water.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
