The City of Port Angeles is in the process of designing improvements for the 8th Street corridor, from Lincoln Street to "A" Street. This corridor is one of the City's most active arterials and supports all modes of transportation.
This improvement project, included in the City's Capital Facilities and Transportation Improvement Plan as TR0119, includes the removal and replacement of existing asphalt along 8th Street between Lincoln and "A" Streets, as well as resurfacing of the 8th Street bridges to extend the service life of both.
This work also includes reconfiguration of driving lanes to include new bike lanes in east and west directions. New bike lanes will connect to bike lanes previously installed as part of the Lincoln Street Safety project and to existing bike lanes located along the 8th Street bridges.
Construction is expected to begin in Summer 2024.
We Want Your Input
As part of this process, residents and stakeholders are encouraged to review the proposed designs for the lane reconfiguration and take part in the online survey.
Option A shows the proposed configuration to provide a bike lane along both sides of 8th Street while maintaining the center turn lane. This option eliminates on-street parking between Laurel Street and Cherry Street.
Option B provides a bike lane along both sides of 8th Street, reduced on-street parking between Laurel Street and Cherry Street and removal of the center turn lane.
Your feedback will help to determine the best option for our community. To provide your comments and suggestions, please complete the online survey by March 15, 2024.
