ORIGINAL POST:  As part of the ongoing Race Street Improvement Project, portions of Race Street and 8^th Street will be temporarily closed to thru traffic beginning May 18, 2023. The work is scheduled to begin at approximately 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 18^th and is expected to be complete by 3:00 a.m. on Friday, May 19^th.

During this time, Race Street will be closed from 5^th Street to  9^th Street. Additionally, 8^th Street will be closed from S. Francis Street to S. Chambers Street.

Local access will be provided to residents during this closure.

What can travelers expect?

• Detour route (view map)
• Installation of temporary traffic signs and other safety equipment  
• Possible traffic delays

Please use caution and allow yourself extra time if traveling near or through the construction area. Residents should drive slowly, be on the alert, and follow directions given by Traffic Control personnel and signage.
