Work continues on the 16th Street Stormwater Retrofit Project. As part of this project, stormwater upgrades are being installed on 16th Street, at the “C,” D,” and “E” Street intersections. These upgrades will help remove pollutants, including total suspended solids, dissolved copper, dissolved zinc and total phosphorus, from stormwater runoff before connecting into Tumwater Creek.
What’s been accomplished to date?
New stormwater infrastructure has been installed. Remaining work includes improving and restoring the roads in the work area. This includes the installation of ADA curb ramps and sidewalk on C Street; new curbs and gutters on C and D Streets; street paving and striping on C, D, and E Streets; and roadside restoration and landscaping.
What’s happening next?
Construction will resume on Monday, March 23. Working hours will be 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
16th Street will be closed at the intersection of 16th and C Street beginning Monday, March 23, and will remain closed through Friday, April 3.
In addition, lane revisions and periodic closures on C Street will be in place to allow for the installation of new curb and gutters.
Flaggers will be in place to direct traffic around construction. Detour signage will also be installed on 15th and 17th Streets. Entrances to Angeles Millwork will remain accessible during this work.
