The City of Port Angeles recognizes that the federal government shutdown may be creating unexpected financial stress for federal employees, contractors, and their families. We want to remind you that the City offers utility assistance programs to any resident facing financial hardship.
Available Assistance Programs for City Utility Customers
- Interest Waivers: Receive a waiver on utility interest for up to a one-year period.
- Payment Plan: Participate in a payment plan for past due balances.
- Utility Rate Discounts: Apply for a discount on utility rates by submitting a Utility Discount Application.
To request a utility interest waiver or enroll in a payment plan, please contact our Customer Service Division at 360-457-0411. Staff are available Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Donation Programs
If you would like to help neighbors in need, please consider our “Pass The Buck” Program. This program allows you to make a one-time or monthly donation to support residents facing financial hardship. Contributions support households with utility bills during emergency situations.
Continuity of City Services
The City of Port Angeles continues to serve you without interruption. Essential services—including public safety, electricity, water and sewer utilities, garbage and recycling pickup, road maintenance, permitting and inspections, and parks and recreation—are not impacted by the federal government shutdown.
Federal Services
Social security, Medicare, Medicaid, and Veterans’ health benefits will continue during the shutdown, though some administrative services may be limited. The United States Postal Services (USPS) also remains operational.
We are here for you. If you have any questions about City services or utility assistance, please do not hesitate to contact our offices.
