The City of Port Angeles is proposing updates to its municipal code that establish clear regulations for mobile and itinerate vendors. This amendment will introduce specific provisions for mobile vendors for the first time, aiming to provide greater consistency in the permitting and regulatory processes. The City is seeking public input to help shape these changes, which will include establishing formal definitions for different vendor types, streamlining the permit process, and integrating modern standards for health, safety and operations.
By updating the code, the City seeks to expand access to diverse food and product options, enhance public safety, support local businesses and foster new economic opportunity in our community. The goal is to create a framework that encourages a vibrant economy while ensuring mobile and itinerate vendors, such as food trucks and other businesses on wheels, operate safety and effectively.
To ensure that new regulations reflect the interests of our community, the City is actively seeking public input. Residents will have several opportunities to participate and provide feedback, including through listening posts, community presentations and public meetings.
One key opportunity for community involvement includes the August 28th Planning Commission Meeting, where attendees can take part in an interactive activity designed to gather input that will guide the code’s development. All Port Angeles residents, local business owners, and mobile vending operators are encouraged to attend and share their views.
