[ARCHIVED] East City Hall LID Parking Lot Project to Begin April 22

City Project Information (General)

The City of Port Angeles with local contractor Bruch and Bruch Construction, Inc. will begin the East City Hall LID Parking Lot Project (TR1215) on Monday, April 22. This project will use Low-Impact Development (LID) techniques to manage stormwater onsite and provide much-needed restoration to the parking lot’s surface.

Parking will be unavailable at this location beginning Friday, April 19, and until construction is complete. Please note that all vehicles must be removed from the lot. Any vehicles remaining will be subject to towing at the owner’s expense.

Alternate parking remains available for customer use at the following locations:

  • The south parking lot at City Hall (accessible via 5th Street)
  • On-street parking on 4th Street, 5th Street, and Peabody Street
  • The east end of the Clallam County Courthouse parking lot, located at 223 E 4th Street

Where feasible and convenient, the City encourages customers to walk, cycle, or use public transit to City Hall during this construction.   Bike racks are available at both the main entrance to City Hall and directly east of the Vern Burton Community Center.  Clallam Transit Route 22 is a no-fare route and provides access to the north side of City Hall every 30 minutes. Additional no-fare routes are also available in close proximity to City Hall. For more details, please visit the Clallam Transit website at www.clallamtransit.com.

The City of Port Angeles was awarded a $1.56M grant from the Washington State Department of Ecology for this project, which will implement LID techniques to slow down the stormwater discharge rate, reduce peak flows to Peabody Creek, treat parking lot runoff, and remove common pollutants, such as zinc, copper, and petroleum carbons.

Work is expected to be complete and the east parking lot reopened in mid-August. Please note that, as with all projects, dates may change and work may be extended depending on weather, progress, and conditions.

We thank you for your patience during this time. For the latest project updates, please visit our website: www.cityofpa.us/CityProjects. For additional information, please contact the Public Works & Utilities Department at (360) 417-4800.
