Councilmember Moran is a native of New Jersey. He attended Seton Hall University earning a Bachelor‘s degree majoring in accounting. After graduating he entered the military and was trained as a helicopter pilot serving a tour in Vietnam flying helicopters. Upon returning from overseas he went back to school and earned a Master’s degree in HR from Pacific Lutheran University.
Councilmember Moran was hired by a large east coast financial firm and served as the district manager in Seattle for a number of years. He left this company to start his own firm specializing in pension administration. The day-to-day operation of his company is currently being run by his junior partner.
Councilmember Moran moved to Port Angeles with his wife Marie in 2008. He became very active in the community serving on numerous boards and committees. He is the past-president of the Port Angeles Regional Chamber of Commerce. He has also served as treasurer of the Port Angeles Senior Center, the Clallam County Historical Society and the Olympic Peninsula Rowing Association. Councilmember Moran was also active with the North Olympic Peninsula Basketball Officials Association serving as the Director of Training. For his work in officiating, he was awarded the prestigious Washington Officials Association Meritorious Service Award.
