The Generation II Dream Playground is officially open!  
 
 The Port Angeles Dream Playground was built over a span of five days in September 2002 by more than 2,000 volunteers, with tools and equipment loaned by the community. It is one of the largest volunteer projects Clallam County has ever seen. More than $185,000 was raised to pay for the construction. Most of the funds came from a host of local businesses, and more than 10,000 individual contributors. 
 
 In 2009, volunteers created an 800 square-foot covered pavilion adjacent to the playground.
