Are you interested in adopting a park bench to remember a loved one, celebrate a joyous occasion, or promote a business or organization? The City of Port Angeles' Adopt-A-Bench Program is an opportunity for you to share a meaningful space while enhancing our parks for the enjoyment of all.

About the Program

The Parks & Recreation Department established the Adopt-A-Bench Program to replace its former Memorial & Donation Program. As part of this new program, the wooden memorial benches placed along the Waterfront Trail, City Pier, Marine Drive, and Ediz Hook will be removed, and new carbon fiber benches can be adopted and placed at these locations. This new program also allows for a limited number carbon fiber benches to be placed in certain City parks. The term of the adoption of a bench is 10 years.

About the Bench

The benches were designed by local artist Robert Stokes, and manufactured by local company Composite Recycling Technology Center. The benches are constructed from recycled aerospace grade carbon fiber, making them durable, vandalism resistant, and able to withstand saltwater environments.Adopt A Bench V2 Image - Tan w Text Box

All Adopt-A-Bench participants will be recognized with a ceramic plaque placed on the bench. The 5”x7” plaque is set flush in the center of the upper tier of the bench backrest. The ceramic plaques are fully customizable, and can include any combination of pictures, logos, and text.

How to Adopt a Park Bench

Download the Adopt-a-Bench Interest Form and turn it in to the Parks & Recreation Office (308 E. 4th St.) or email it to the Parks and Recreation Department. Submitting this form does not guarantee that you will receive a bench or that the proposed bench location will be selected. If your interest form is approved, a representative from the Parks & Recreation Department will contact you for next steps, depending on your request.
