Project Overview
Completed in 2022, the Francis Street ADA Improvement Project (TR0616) was one of several projects initiated to improve the quality of life of Port Angeles residents and provide further safety measures to the community. Specifically, this project was completed in order to provide sidewalk accessibility and meet ADA compliance. As a result of this project, 53 ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps were installed on Francis Street, between Caroline and 8th Streets. The new ramps have removed ADA barriers, allowing pedestrians access to the newly installed Port Angeles Pump Track, tennis courts, and other facilities at Erickson Park, the Veterans Center, YMCA, 9/11 Memorial Waterfront Park, and Olympic Medical Center.
Funding
Transportation Improvement Board (TIP) Complete Street grant funds were utilized to accelerate the construction of this project.
