A friendly reminder from the Port Angeles Police Department
The Police Department is concerned that some of our citizens are either confused about or unaware of the regulations that govern the parking of motor vehicles, trailers, and recreational vehicles on the streets of Port Angeles.
If you receive a parking ticket you have 15 days to respond or the fine increases by an additional $25. Tickets not paid within 30 days are sent to a collection agency.
It is unlawful to park:
In front of a public or private driveway;
Within 15 feet of a fire hydrant;
Within 20 feet of a crosswalk;
Within 30 feet of a stop sign, yield sign, or any traffic control signal;
At any place where official signs prohibit parking;
Any vehicle that is inoperable and/or under repair on any City street;
On any City street for more than 14 consecutive days without moving the vehicle;
In an alley for more than 15 minutes;
Any unlicensed vehicle on any City street (expired tabs);
Headed the wrong way;
Longer than 2 hours in a limited time zone area (downtown and other places as marked);
Longer than 3 hours in a downtown City parking lot;
On a sidewalk, sidewalk area or street planting strip;
For longer than 15 minutes in a yellow marked loading zone;
In a handicapped zone without a special license plate or placard and you must be able to present your identification card if requested.
And -
It is also unlawful to park any trailer or “non-motorized” conveyance on any street for more than 24 – hours.
You may not leave your vehicle unattended with the keys in the ignition and/or the engine running.

Parking Tickets You may contact the Police Department Records Division for questions regarding parking violations at 417-4915 Monday through Friday between 8 and 5 or in person in the Police Lobby between 9 am and 3 pm Monday through Friday.
Payments can be mailed or dropped in the drop box. All parking violations must be paid within 15 days or a $25 penalty is added. Call 911 should you have an emergency, or call 452-4545 for general information. Listen to your local radio station 1450 AM. Refer to your telephone book for information regarding other emergency assistance. Make sure you have stored a minimum of one gallon of water, per person, per day.
