Here is some pool restoration trivia:
Work involved over 500 hours of staff time.
26 gallons of paint were used.
Pool was scrubbed, scrapped, given an acid bath, then rinsed.
Expansion joints were removed and new joint material applied.
Tile grout was replaced where needed.
Paint drying time was 14 days.
Expansion joint drying time was a minimum of 7 days.
All plugged 3" galvanized trough drains were cut out and replaced with PVC.
Defective 2" return water piping was replaced.
Underwater lights were replaced.
Restrooms and lockers were repainted
Interior walls of complex were repainted to 6 feet
It took 1 day to fill the pool back up with water at 55 degrees
It will take 3 days to heat the water to 84 degrees.
Approximately 200,000 gallons of water is needed to fill the pool.
Due to approximately 20 layers of paint, the extra drying time was critical to the sucess of the new paint bonding. Also, aproximately 90% of the circulation system was blocked. With remedial repairs made, surface circulation should be improved.
Appreciation to Bob Petty, Marty Lemon, Barb Oliver, and other staff for a VERY professional job completed on schedule.
Managed creatively and safely,
