JOURNEY LEVEL LINEMAN Job Summary : Under supervision of a Line Foreman, the journey level Lineman performs skilled electrical work in the construction, maintenance, and operation of the City's electrical transmission and distribution system, both overhead and underground. All work is performed in a manner that ensures compliance with established work practices and safety procedures as well as economical use and security of vehicles, materials, and equipment.
Examples of duties include install, maintain, and operate the electrical system facilities, including transmission and distribution systems, substations, streetlights, and traffic signals; operate all utility vehicles and specialized equipment used in the electric industry; install and maintain wood and fiberglass poles and steel towers; install and remove transformers, capacitors, switches and similar equipment; install and maintain underground conductors, conduits, vaults, transformers, high voltage elbows, etc; as well as perform electric utility connections, disconnections, and the more hazardous electrical work concerning customer service activity.
Salary & Benefits : $38.005/hr (5% increase in 2014 to $39.905/hr)

Experience and Training Requirements:
Must have completed a state approved apprenticeship performing all classes of overhead and underground transmission and distribution work.
Must hold IBEW certification as a Journey Level Lineman.
Must have a good driving record and possess or be able to obtain a valid Washington State driver's license within 30 days of employment, as well as a current Class A CDL.
Must have current flagging and First Aid/CPR cards and have completed related OSHA training.
Must live within a 30-minute report time of Light Operations facility.

ASSISTANT PLANNER / COMMUNITY & ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT Job Summary: Under general direction, performs professional planning work including land use and environmental reviews: comprehensive land use planning and staff assistance at public hearings and meetings.
Salary : $3,958 - $4,725 per month (2% wage increase in 2014).

Qualifications :
Bachelor of Arts degree in planning, urban studies or closely related field is required.

A Master of Arts degree is desirable and may be substituted for the one year of professional planning experience.
Must demonstrate proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and ESRI Arcview or related GIS software.
Possession of or ability to obtain a Washington State Drivers License within thirty (30) days, and a good driving record.

FLEET MECHANIC - EQUIPMENT SERVICES Job Summary: Under general supervision of the Fleet Maintenance Manager, performs heavy and automotive mechanical work at the journey level on light to heavy duty and automotive equipment and machinery. Positions also perform skilled welding and equipment fabrication.
Salary : $28.447/hr (Corrected: 2% wage increase in 2014 to $29.016/hr.)

Qualifications :

Four (4) years experience as an equipment mechanic, including heavy diesel and automotive work, welding, equipment fabrication and hydraulic repair and maintenance. Body and painting experience plus structural welding certificate is desirable.
Requires Washington State driver's license and good driving record. A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Class A or B is preferred.
Physical demands consist of bending, stooping, lifting heavy objects in excess of fifty (50) pounds, and working in confined spaces.

UTILITY WORKER I / II - WASTEWATER DIVISION Job Summary: Under supervision of the Leadworker, performs a variety of semi-skilled maintenance and construction work in the Wastewater Division of the Public Works Department.
Duties include maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant and collection systems, including the repair and maintenance of pumps; maintains and lubricates various equipment; performs land application of biosolids; performs source control inspections, sample collection and analysis as assigned; and assist in the installation, repair and maintenance of sewer mains and storm systems. Employees may be required to augment the wastewater treatment plant crew and work some weekends, on-call and alternative shifts as assigned.
A Utility Worker I may be promoted to Utility Worker II after meeting the experience necessary for the classification, plus supervisory approval, and satisfactory performance evaluations. Position may be filled at the Utility Worker II level depending upon qualifications of applicant. There is potential for an additional Utility Worker position to be filled later this year.
Salary : Utility Worker I $3,315 - $3,958 per month / Utility Worker II $3,622 - $4,324 per month. Plus benefits.

ENGINEERING INTERN - STORMWATER PROGRAM Revised on May 23, 2013 Job Summary : Assists in the preparation of working drawings, plans, and estimates for sanitary sewers, storm sewers, water lines, street improvements, solid waste facilities, buildings and other similar projects.
The following duties are not inclusive of all duties and the incumbent performs other related duties as required:
Prepares and organizes engineering and environmental documents and permit applications for projects, archives, or libraries.
Computes and compiles survey data from field survey notes; corrects, updates and extends city mapping.
Performs engineering data collection, compilation, interpretation, and entry into engineering and computer modeling systems.
Performs fundamental engineering drawing using Autocad or the ESRI Geographical Information System.
Inspects Public Works projects for conformance with project plans and specifications.
Assists in pavement condition index surveys and data recording and entry.
Prepares and maintains various files, data, drawings, and other records for the engineering office.

COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER (911 Dispatcher) Job Summary: The City of Port Angeles is recruiting for Communications Officer--911 Dispatcher in the Police Department. Candidates.
Dispatchers answer 9-1-1 and other emergency and non-emergency telephone calls in a multi-jurisdictional dispatch center, and perform radio dispatch, both non-emergency and emergency police, fire and medical calls for assistance. This involves performing a wide variety of computer transactions and records functions.
Note: Requires shift work and a 30-minute response time for emergency situations. Shifts are 12 hours long as follows: 2 days on, 3 days off, 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, 2 days off with every other Friday, Saturday & Sunday off.
Shifts are currently dayshift (6:00 AM to 6:00 PM) and night shift (6:00 PM to 6:00 AM). Dispatchers rotate between day and night shifts every 3 months.

LATERAL POLICE OFFICER The Port Angeles Police Department is a progressive, State-accredited, community policing oriented, professional agency currently consisting of 33 commissioned employees, and a civilian contingent of 27 who are primarily responsible for police records and the PENCOM 911 Communications Center.
The Department has an assigned school resource officer in addition to other staffing including a downtown officer, Drug Task Force officer, two K-9 officers and a detective division. All officers and detectives are assigned a police vehicle. Home storage of police vehicles is authorized for officers living within a prescribed distance and response time. The Department anticipates filling one vacancy.
CAREER OPPORTUNITY - LATERAL POLICE OFFICER

Salary : $4,726 - $5,628 per month, or $56,712 - $67,533 annually, plus education pay. Depending on training and length of experience, lateral police officers may start above the first step of the salary range.

Requirements :
• Must be a minimum of 21-years of age at time of hire and a United States citizen.
• Associates degree or the equivalent 90-quarter credits is required.
• Bachelor's degree with coursework in criminal justice and public service experience is preferred.
• Must have graduated from a municipal or regional Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy or equivalent, as accepted by the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission.
• Out of state applicants must successfully complete the Washington State Academy two-week equivalency course within the first 12 months of employment.
• Other necessary skills: excellent communication skills and good physical experience.
