VISIT WITH CITY COUNCIL AT THE FARMERS' MARKET in THE GATEWAY

As part of their continuing outreach to the community, the Port Angeles City Council will have a table at the Farmers' Market in The Gateway on the first Saturday of each month from 10:00 a.m. until noon. The Gateway is located at the intersection of Front & Lincoln Streets.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:

February 4 - Councilmembers Nelson and Bruch
March 3 - Councilmembers Di Guilio and Bruch
April 7 - Mayor Kidd and Councilmember Mania
May 5 - Deputy Mayor Collins and Councilmembers Di Guilio and Downie
June 2 - Mayor Kidd and Councilmember Di Guilio

The Gateway is located at 125 E. Front Street in Port Angeles
Also open are the Clallam Transit Bus Lanes and the West Parking Garage.

The Gateway includes a public plaza or pavilion, bus lane,
underground parking and a clock tower.

A formal opening ceremony will be planned for a later date.

US SENATOR PATTY MURRAY SECURES ANOTHER $500,000 FOR GATEWAY
(Washington, D.C) – July 12, 2007
Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) announced that she has included $2.7 million in funding for Olympic Peninsula transportation and community development projects in the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development (THUD) Appropriations bill. Senator Murray is the Chairman of the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee. 

The funding secured by Senator Murray for Clallam Transit will help support the development of a multi-modal facility, public plaza, visitor center, park and ride and parking facility in downtown Port Angeles. This facility will be the downtown hub for transit buses, taxis, bicyclists, pedestrians, ferry passengers, and tourists. Senator Murray has previously secured more than $4 million for this project.

"I am pleased to help support Port Angeles' vision for a central, accessible transportation center to serve local residents," said Senator Murray.

“The International Gateway project is the cornerstone of our downtown. It is more than just a transportation center; it is our community plaza – a gathering place," said Port Angeles Mayor Karen Rogers. "Thank you to Senator Murray for her continued support of our Gateway Project.

With this final $500,000 appropriation, Senator Murray has delivered $4.5 million dollars toward the development of this critical, priority project. She truly supports PA and is a real partner making community projects happen.”

US CONGRESSMAN NORM DICKS VISITS CONSTRUCTION SITE
July 5, 2007 - Congressman Norm Dicks toured the Gateway Site as part of a brief tour of Port Angeles.

The Congressman was accompanied by members of his staff, the Mayor, City Councilmembers and representatives of Clallam Transit and the Port Angeles Downtown Association.
