The city's Solid Waste Division services 7,000 residential accounts and 850 commercial accounts. Residents are provided with a 90-gallon container, furnished by the city. Commercial customers can use 90 or 300 gallon containers.
All refuse is placed in city-owned containers and collected by automated trucks. Garbage is collected on all legal holidays except Thanksgiving day, Christmas day, and New Years day.
To report a garbage container needing repair, call Garbage Collection at 417-4876.
If you live outside the city limits, call D.M./Olympic Disposal at 360-452-7278 for curbside collection.
The cost of solid waste collection for residential customers is $38.70 per month for weekly collection, and $24.16 per month for every-other-week collection for a 90 gallon container. This rate includes recycling. Special arrangements can be provided for residents who are physically unable to place carts out for collections.
Containers must be placed at the curb or alley by 7:00 a.m. on the scheduled collection day (you may roll it out the night before). Containers must face the street or alley and must be five feet from cars, buildings, or other obstacles. Collection can be at anytime between 7:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
Collections are Monday through Saturday and can begin as early as 5:00 a.m. Call Garbage Collection for rates. Commercial rates include cardboard recycling.
